Usage
Biatain Alginate Ag can be used on all moderate to heavily exuding partial to full thickness wounds, including leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, donor sites, traumatic wounds, and second degree burns. Biatain Alginate Ag may be used on wounds at -risk of infection. Biatain Alginate Ag can be used under compression bandages. Biatain Alginate Ag should not be used on dry or lightly exuding wounds or to control heavy bleeding.
Biatain Alginate Ag is a highly absorbent silver alginate dressing for moderately to heavily exuding wounds at-risk of infection.
Ideal for cavity filling for wounds at-risk of infection
The design and structural integrity of the dressing allow you to cut the dressing to fit to any size, shape or depth of a wound. The dressing conforms to the wound bed for optimal infection control.
Patented with a silver complex with broad antimicrobial profile
Biatain Alginate Ag provides continuous antimicrobial effect during the entire wear time (up to 7 days).
Unique dressing integrity
The unique dressing integrity allows for one-piece removal.
Minimal risk of leakage and maceration
The absorption of Biatain Alginate Ag and the gel formation which locks exudate inside the gel prevent leakage that can cause maceration of the surrounding skin.
Documented haemostatic effect
Contrary to hydrofiber dressings, alginate dressings have documented haemostatic effect, i.e. ability to arrest blood flow in minor bleedings.
Mode of action
On contact with wound exudate Biatain Alginate Ag converts to a soft, cohesive gel that conforms closely to the wound bed for optimal infection control. The patented silver complex releases ions in the presence of wound exudate.
Product composition
Biatain Alginate Ag is an alginate dressing consisting of calcium alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and an ionic silver complex.
